Foundation

I like the idea of blogging. There is something very schizophrenic about the medium; a multi-genre quality, if you will. I like the idea of having access to sounds, webpages, video, or whatever you yourself have created, to make an argument. Unfortunately, blogs also suffer from the same fates as numerous message boards, with narcissistic indulgences trumping diversity of thought, lack of proper English masking any semblance of elevated discourse, and the eventual decay of order as people begin e-screaming at each other at the slightest indication that someone is disagreeing with them.

This blog is indeed narcissistic as well, but with a purpose. I want to avoid the pitfalls of the majority of other areas of the web like this. It is my intention to use this area as a compendium, or digest, of essays on various topics, ranging from the literary to the scientific, from the sociological to the deeply personal, and from the completely factual to the largest height of bullshit I can possibly manage. I don't profess to be incredibly knowledgeable of any of these fields, but I do hope I can be as lucid and incisive as possible.

These essays are essentially academic. The largest, most comprehensive, synecdochistic treatment of any given topic I can do. Or not. Whatever. The blog is called "Phosphenic Fractal Monkey", after all.

However, I do at least hope that all of these essays will collectively coalesce into some cohesive attempt at finding some kind of truth. Maybe it'll work, maybe it won't. I should have something up within the next week, and the pace should quicken after that. Let the cries of "elitist" begin.
